Swipe gestures are different than Android. Basically it restricts how apps can use data in the background but doesn't prevent notifications from coming through. It took me some time to get used to how Apple's settings layout is: ex phone settings and camera settings are all within the settings app, not the phone or camera app.īackground app refresh: look into this when you get your iPhone. On Android you could configure this once for all networks. To set a private/manual DNS, you have to do it for each individual network. My iPhone 11 pro feels more solid in my hands than my S20 did. Imo the build quality of iPhones are better than Androids. Generally better pics as well but that can vary. It takes better video than my any of my Android's have. IPhone can't playback webm in-browser, which seems really silly to me. I can send full-res pics and vids now since most of my friends also use iMessage. I don't like that you can't set default apps (hopefully starting to change with iOS 14). Other than that, I don't like the home screen compared to Android's. I can get 36-48 hrs on a single charge, depending how heavily I use it. The battery of the iPhone is the single best thing about it imo. I switched to iPhone from Android as well over battery drain. I don’t know what’s wrong with Apple’s but it’s not user friendly at all. Notification - LED notification is what I missed the most followed by the way notification on android works. It made navigation considerably slower because you have to reach a lot to go back. In iOS, you have to either push a button at the top of your screen or swipe on the edge of the screen to go back. The back button - back button is a fast and precise way to navigate around and it’s there at the reach of your thumb. Search on iOS is good but it is miles away from something like Sesame shortcut on android. I quit messing with my home screen and primary use search to access everything. On iOS, arranging a home screen is too much work because of how hard it is to drag and drop everything into place. The home screen - on android I could have a dedicated home screen for everything I want, and I know where everything is. I’m a long time Android user and here are the things I miss on Android. It's nice having a phone that doesn't spam out randomly. I love Android but my gosh I had so many issues with the gesture controls. Overall, I thought my transition to iPhone would be horrific ( only did it for the Apple watch for activity tracking) but honestly I really enjoy the change. It makes it really hard to know if I hate a legit message or not. We knew this walking into this but one of my biggest pet peeves is having a notification dot for my messages app on a group message I don't care about. There's no indication you have a notification in the status bar so sometimes I get an accumulation of stuff that I didn't know existed. Free apps are a thing of the past my friend. The three main things that guys me isĪpp subscriptions: Remember the days where we can download free ringtones quick and easily? Thing of the past. It's way more smoother, battery life is great, apps look better, and I really enjoy the gesture control. Initially it was a little annoying because I'm not used to having less options in the control area and the lack of customization. I've used Android since 2012 and just an iPhone 2 weeks ago. This is one added bonus moving back to ios. Nowadays we opt for WhatsApp, my attempt at her using Google photos was a no go. My wife and I, before I moved to android would go out with the children on days out, take a shit ton of pictures and simply create a new album in the shared icloud area and upload our pictures for us to each download the ones we wanted on our phones. Their camera app certain has gone through some great improvements and from what I see have come a long way since I had my iPhone 7 and my 5C, 5S before that. There's no doubt that a lot of time and effort goes into ios applications.Ī decent camera that can take a great pic under most scenarios. IOS upgrades happening for all iPhones and not spread across country by country getting unknown differing release dates. That is something I'll heavily miss along with my s pen! This means work email, pictures I take on site and work notes all protected behind the secure app and entirely separated from my main phone. I use the knox secure folder feature and the apps within. One feature I have on my phone is so handy because it keeps me separated from work. The customisation will be one but apple are making the right changes with ios 14 and it looks rather refreshing and as if apple are actually listening to their customers. I must say there will be things I'll miss. I've decide I'll be switching back to ios after nearly 2 years on android.
